United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Stornoway Grey

Ok guys... i received my new leather steering wheel last week form Royal and I'm very impressed with the finish. I went for perforated leather on the sides with built up thumb grips and napper leather top and bottom. Very nice indeed...

Now i have a slight problem with the horn buttons now its fitted. The horn buttons stay depressed when pressed as i found out to my embarrassment whilst the horn blasted for several minuets. I assume this is caused because of the leather build up either side of the switch housings as the horn buttons are now very tight against the airbag. If i give the airbag a wiggle left to right the horn releases... Not an ideal way to operate and i fear this will cause issues for MOT etc...

Anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you get around it?

Cheers

Nope, absolutely no problem with mine.

Best bet is to loosen off the horn switch panel and see at what point the button works ok.
Then decide what needs trimmed.
But if you reckon it's a problem created by Royal, then get straight back on to Jack. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

I'm using the same buttons and airbag so the only change is the wheel they are mounted to. I assume Jack simply covers standard plastic steering wheels so there will be a piece of leather wrapped either side of the switches. I will give him a call this week to discuss to see what he can recommend before i start trimming away at anything.

Cheers

Good find Ed Thumbs Up

Brave man, loosening and manoeuvring the airbag whilst the battery is still connected, especially with the ignition on! Shocked FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

Definitely need this doing in my new baby as even for my little hands the wheel feels skinny and cheap after the beautiful leather in my VW Golf R lol

I tried to fit mine (perforated leather) last weekend but the airbag did not fit in anymore. The leather wrapping at the spokes is to much to the center of the wheel, so the button panels squeeze in the airbag. I will return it and wait for an exchange part that is proper done.
