Onboard compressor.

I'm in the process of installing a compressor under the driver's seat. There is a device hanging off the driver's seat & I don't want the compressor to interfere with it. I am wondering what it is? There isn't one under the passenger seat so I can move the compressor to the passenger side if necessary.

Added a 120mm 117cfm fan for cooling.

I'm guessing it's a position sensor for the max fore and aft adjustment of the electric seat.
I suppose for your car this is not being used but is wired to the main plug at front right hand corner of the seat, black and white wire on mine.
The front and rear extremity seem to correspond to the forward and rear most position of my seat.

think the ejector seat and wiring was only available as an option in conjunction with the pan roof, which I don't think was on the options list for Southern Hemisphere Whistle

It's too hot & the hotter they run the more inefficient they are. & didn't quite know where to put it, also want to maintain access for the mechanic!

I didn't want another item floating around the car, so it is out the way under the seat.

My next issue is powering it. I might just have a cable & pop the bonnet & connect it. The electrical system is too complex & I don't want to bug_er anything up. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

In the southern hemisphere we have velcro on the seat to keep us pinned down to the car! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I'm not sure if a seatbelt pre-tensioner is fitted to a FL2. if yes, it could be that.

Just couldn't face trying to connect into the car's network! I connected it with 50 amp Anderson plugs, have rigging swaging tools so it's easy to crimp the heavy Anderson connectors. Added an Anderson plug to the battery on a short bit of cable & fuse, so I just have to pop the bonnet & open the battery cover, & have a 3.5 metre extension cable to connect from battery to compressor setup. A few final things to finish, but basically all works well. While the power is connected the fan is always on for cooling.

The compressor is really tucked out of the way here, so one less thing floating around the car!

Talking about things floating around... That loop of hose is way bigger than the compressor itself... Laughing Laughing

I thought that, but then thought having an onboard compressor means that you can lower your tyre pressures for sand or deep snow driving (not that there is much snow in Oz Laughing ) but you can then pump them back up easily.

Also good for blow up beds, blow up tents, blow up canoes................

we used to have them on our military wagons and used them for tyres, pneumatic 12m comms masts, paint spray guns and all sorts.

I just carry one of these:-
Which just plugs into the accessory socket. Might not be quite as quick as that underseat thing but I can transfer it from car to motorcycle and back in a split second. And it sits easily within the spare wheel space. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE
