Replacement key fob cases on ebay

Has anyone bought the replacement key fob cases on ebay, mine are both a bit worse for wear but before I get one I wondered if anyone else has used them, they have sold quite a few. It's just the external case that you put the original circuit board and key in. There only about £20.

I used one some time ago to repair one of my fobs.

Just make sure you transfer the little black chip as well as the circuit board. This is the imobiliser chip i believe. It's very small, about 5 mil square and located in a slot in fob.

I replaced the battery as well while i had it apart. Andy

Hi,
I have got from ebay a new case and battery;
I've been able to open the old one and change the battery and fix inside the new case.

Can someone tell me where is the chip immobiliser because I can't find it.

Bye

Have not used the ebay cases but have had two keys done recently by this company selling on Amazon. One was for my car and one was for my sons car. My son tells me that his spare key had not worked for several months but came back virtually like new.

Unfortunately I've read your post too late Smile. Where is this chip located. I had to cut my old one in (many) pieces. I hope that I didn't destroy the chip. Big Cry

That's okay but for safety/security, don't give them your home address - get it delivered to a friend/relative at a different address to where the car is normally parked! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Present: Audi A3 S Line.
