Rupert's getting sorted

after a few months of Rupert humping my daughters leg, growling at my son if he looks at him, wife and daughter if i'm at home, if i'm not there and my wifes home his all over her.

Tried to teach him that there is nothing wrong with them, with the kids feeding him etc to no avail so today after a chat with my vets, its been decided to have his knackers cut off.

Hopefully this will sort his attitude out, but might need behaviourist to teach him also

at £170, shame its not covered on his petplan insurance Big Cry Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Where is he in the pecking order of your home pack? He should be at the bottom. Fed last, get used to having food, treats, toys etc taken away mid play or mid snack, made to wait last before going out of a door or getting in the car, not allowed to get in the bed, go upstairs or on sofa etc. without your express permission. Sometimes they might think they are second in command and take over role as pack leader when you are not there? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

dont over feed him our labs easily got fat post-op

but thats labs for you, even if you dont feed them they find something to eat, even any spills of chicken feed after deliveries and other unmentionable stuff, one of the worst was fish discarded onthe river bank by careless fishermen At work

All of the above, I've spent the last month, drilling home his position, took me ages to get through doors as he is always at my heels. Any chews/bones taken from him mid feed, especially if he growled. Made to sit on the floor not the sofa

he ended up just laying in his bed in the kitchen, all the time in the end

Last night I brought 3 treats in to the room, gave him one, (sit, wait paw etc) the other played a game with him and the third was secretly past to the wife, told him to go see her, which he did (slowly) but when she asked for his paw, he gave her it and any other movement , like going to stroke him got a growl, so he didn't get the treat, 3 times with 10mins of him sulking inbetween, then we put it on the mantle shelf after that and he sat staring at it for ages, then she tried again and this time he didn't growl got the treat and went on his lounge bed, about 40 mins later, his still there and the wife gets up to go to bed, his laid there and she only looked at him and said goodnight Rupert and he growled.

No snarling, no teeth, just a low growl, in a leave me the feck alone sort of way, so this morning the decision has been made, to do something about it. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Our friends have just had their 6 year old Cocker done. He wanted to fight/dominate/hump many other male dogs he came into contact with. Only had it done a few months ago but already he has calmed down somewhat. Then again, so would I! Shocked Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
