Has anyone replaced their auto head light sensor, if so what is involved and cost.

The auto headlamp sensor ie solar sensor is incorporated into the rain sensor unit so you have to replace the whole unit. If you are having problems there was a solar sensor update a few years ago that fixed problems.

Rain sensor module with autoheadlamps part number LR007066 £43.89 plus vat = £52.67 inc vat.

The part number is a superseded from the old number LR000467

Replacing the sensor involves removing the rear view mirror etc.
If you need more details I'm sure others have removed the rear view mirror on hear. Rolling Eyes

when nation windscreens replaced my screen, he wipe some sort of gel on to the sensor to make better contact with the screen

might help if you do swap, not sure what the gel was, maybe silicone grease type stuff Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Shocked £145 fitted for a new solar sensor, it only took me 15 minutes maximum when I replaced mine.
Whistle Dealer must be drinking some expensive coffee that they wanted you to pay for.

The Freelander 2 rain sensor is a Volvo part :306 55 338

they are dead easy to replace, you just have to be patient and careful when taking apart the mirror housing and removing the old sensor.
certainly doesn't justify a £100 fitting cost

Can't remember exactly. Think it is clipped but there is a silicon gel type substance presumably to seal the edges.
