Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who feels this way. I've been trying to come up with a way to protect the left foot rest. |

Seem to recall reading some time ago that if you buy a cheap rubber mat you can cut it to fit over the left footrest. |

Yep! I had the same problem with the LR mats but what I did was buy a cheap couple of mats from a supermarket (Tesco in Uk) for £10 and then cut a section to fit over the footrest area, pushing some of it under the centre console front and then some under the mat. It works perfectly and using the old one as a template I can replace it every three months or so with the remains of the cheapy mats. Ralph

Sounds like a plan - and no doubt I can sort out the exposed carpet at the rear of the drivers footwell and plug the hole in the middle in a like fashion. Neverthless all rather ridiculous when you've bought the LR mats at premium price. Like to know who they have 'designing' these things! There is a hook on the floor just in front of the drivers seat and this goes through the hole in the mat. This stops it sliding about. I have an old towel in the garage and use it to mop up the water on the mat so that it doesn't get too full. Andyfr |

The question I've been pondering is how to keep the piece in place. |

I am in the process of making a footrest cover for mine. Can't beleive a £35 Land Rover doesnt have one, but a Vauxhall Vectra had proper footrest covers to protect the carpet.

Hi, first post for me. I too was disappointed to find that after 20,000 miles, the premium rubber mat had gone in a hole under the driver's right heel, the mat is reinforced to avoid this, but in the wrong place!. Need my mats to protect the carpet from sea water from my boots after I have launched/ recovered a small boat. Anyone any ideas??, certainly won't be buying LR replacements. |

LR mats excellent long lasting quality Bought new with my previous MY11, swapped car in after 36k miles and took them out for my MY13, this one has done 34k miles. So 70,000 miles and no holes, drivers side looking a bit worn but plenty left yet. Mainly wear trainers so that must have a bearing on wear and tear and don't drag oceans of water in neither. |
