Problem with acceleration

Hi Guys I wonder if anyone can help please....
I just ran my FL2 TD4 up the M3 and back -approx 145 miles - at steady 70mph (ish) and at Approx 36 mpg. At the end of the trip I started to experience a 'faltering' when accelerating. It started on the motorway in 5th and 6th gear and was at about 2200rpm. It felt like the power was being turned off and on when I put my foot down.
On the forest roads, after the motorway, the same happened under acceleration in all the gears fron 2nd up. It happened at 1800 rpm and up to about 2500 but if I pushed through that up to 3000 and above it was fine.
It felt like I was hitting a rev limiter.
Has anyone had that experience or can suggest anything as a solution?
Thanks, Edward.

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed? I would start with that.

Thanks Rich. It needs a service. Last done March 15. I bought it in Nov 15. That's a good place to start I guess. I did feel it was fuel related. Hope it's not turbo related.....

I had the same issue last week driving near Evesham after a 2 hour journey - felt like the rev limiter was cutting in and jolting the whole car whilst accelerating reasonably quickly. Hasn't happened since, and I've driven a few long journeys. Not sure why this happened, it was serviced 4000 miles ago (5 weeks ago!)

Remember that the fuel filter is only changed every other service and the FL2 seems to be very sensitive to filter issues. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

Thanks for your help on this. It seems it was a saturated air filter. I also am missing the non return valve at the base of the air filter box. Trying to source something to act as the rubber flap while the air filter dries on the radiator..... Any ideas?
