I'm certainly pleased with my Volvo XC60 which I've had since April.

Someone in the next village has one. I really like it-infinitely nicer than the DS and similar money for the same spec. Looks quite classy and a bit different to the normal Audi/BMW offerings. If I had the money to buy new it would be my choice. I'm saving hard for the petrol version secondhand if Land Rover don't produce anything decent as an alternative. |

I think Volvo under their Chinese ownership highlight the dearth of design talent at Land Rover nowadays. The new XC 60s and XC 90s are really well designed and worthy contenders for honours in their respective categories. LR will have a lot of catching up to do over the next few years - sales of the Evoque cannot disguise the fact that it is basically a Freely2 with the roof squashed and the DismalSport is a very mediocre offering. Neither of the Volvos are going to hack it off road but they are not intended to and Volvo have really put a lot of effort into good design and quality construction while LR gropes about in marketing cyberspace trying to place the brand in Mrs Beckham's handbag. I have had four Volvos and liked them all - particularly the one that allowed me to walk away unscratched from a great big 3 car prang. I would prefer to have something more rugged and utilitarian than the new Volvos but they certainly look to be a class act. |

Have a look on the Carfile.net web site there are some good discounts available (~£6 to 7k) on there - I used them to buy my freelander a couple (well nearly 3 years ago) and found them to be excellent |

The trouble is you'll always be looking at a Volvo badge on the steering wheel and I, for one, am not ready for my pipe and slippers just yet! |
