There are many threads on here relating to tyre speed and load ratings, here's one to start with: http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic25331.html. A search will reveal others.

Standard fit is Latitude Tour HP 101/H (from TOPIx) if that's any help. Both the ones you mention have a higher rating than that (101/V and 105/V). All the other standard tyres are rated 103 or above though, and most are V rated apart from the winter tyres. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Update to that - on a different TOPIx document that tyre is marked "NAS only". Not sure which country or countries that refers to, but it looks like the 101/H load rating may not apply to UK on original equipment. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

I thought so, but there is also a category "USA and Canadian Markets". It's an internal document - I expect THEY know what it means! Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

As a rule, I understood XL (extra load) tyres to be fitted as standard to commercial vehicles and people carriers and they have a stiffer sidewall to carry the extra load. If fitted to a car they will give a harsher ride but I didn't notice it too much when I had XL tyres fitted to my FL2. You'd probably not want them fitted if going off-road as not much flex in them.
