Dashcam fitting

After a few near misses on country lanes and reading the threads on here I have decided to take the plunge and have a Dash cam fitted. Reading the reviews, the Transcend Drivepro 200 http://www.halfords.com/technology/dash-ca...0-dash-cam seems to offer a reasonable balance between cost and quality. The other on my shortlist is the Drivepro 220 http://www.halfords.com/technology/dash-ca...-dash-cam. Has anyone used Halford's Dashcam fitting service or can offer advice on their choice http://www.halfords.com/advice/technology/...amfitting? I want to keep below £100 if I can.

I have the 220 and it seems ace. We were driving back from Southampton the other week and I couldn't even see the road marking on the motorway ( stupidly bad rain / storm ) but the cam still new when I was changing lane Thumbs Up

The only problem I have so far with the 220 is you can only have both the gps speed and location on or off, it would be nice to have the location on and the speed off but you can not choose this option

Dan

P.s I fitted myself and this is the second cam I have fitted as it was an upgrade from the first, dead easy to fit just takes about 20 minutes Freelander 57 plate XS Blue Auto

Many thanks for the advice-I think I will go for the 220. I'll check out the fitting video too. I assume it must be fairly straightforward as Halfords only charge £30.

Let us know how you get on if fitted by Halfords , since your post I fancy the 220 and have a couple of Halfords within 15mins drive so may use them . FL2 gone now in 2016 Discovery 4 Loire Blue .

Ive got transcend 220 not hard wired but just ran cable behind A pillar behind glovebox behind centre. Console and plugged into arm rest socket. Starts when I unlock car stops when I lock it. Pretty good quality recording. I feel more at ease knowing its there. 2017 Discovery Sport Pure Fuji White "Lynne"

Dash Cams

Please could you tell me the best way to wire a Transcend 220 dash cam.
There is no easy route on my 2013 to the centre console/ cuby to use one of the 12v sockets so was wondering if I could hard wire myself and if so to where to?
Any thoughts would be appreciated

I can barely fit a bulb to a lamp but fitting a dashcam was a doddle. There is plenty space to run the cable if you take your time and I would reckon around 20 minutes should take care of it. I would avoid Halfords.

I've just hard wired a mini 0806 into my car. Very discreet and works well. Took about 30 minutes. Smallest one on the market with a screen. http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2015/7/5/the-...never.html Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Get the fitting kit. It includes an 'add a fuse' connector and just run it to an ignition switched live fuse. http://www.halfords.com/technology/dash-ca...rdwire-kit Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Just had my dashcam fitted.I decided on the Nextbase 402G Professional,as it is a Which?Magazine Best Buy. I had it fitted by Halfords, and they did an excellent job of hard-wiring it.
I've only had it a couple of days, but,so far, I am very pleased with it.
