Wipers won't work but turn on right indicator.

Hi,

My wipers have stopped working and when I move the stalk to either auto, hi or low the right hand indicator comes on. The only saving grace is the quick wipe in the down position still works.

I've had a quick look with the search and it appears it could be the wiper stalk needs replacing. Can anybody confirm this or suggest anything else that can cause this problem.

Many thanks.

Pete.

That's not a problem, I'm guessing it's the same as my D3 to do?

Is it definitely that or could there be another problem?

Pete.

We have had two Freelanders that required new wiper stalks, costs about £160 inc labour at a dealers. These were under warranty but I replaced one on a Renault Megane once and it wasn't difficult, in fact I squirted wd40 in a few places and the old one sprung into life so I refitted it and returned the new one. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

A bit of contact cleaner in the switch and it appears to be working again, don't know how long for though.....
