Is it plastic? if not, what's it going to do to a pedestrian when you hit them? |

Echo Tim's comments above. Should you hit a pedestrian then they certainly ain't going to get up. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Its different for sure, might be carbon fibre, titanium too, pedestrian friendly but still very light and strong?

Hopefully it is aluminium to keep weight to a minimum hanging out the front. Probably 6106 alloy, but maybe 6060. But the welding looks a bit more like steel! Thanks guys! I was not too sure how it would turn out in all honesty but I feel the black will look more the part than the stainless steel one. As this one has been made by the company who make them for JLR, I told them the design I wanted and they fabricated it up to look like how JLR would have made it had they requested an A Bar to be made for the vehicle. It's looks really good and the quality of work is perfect, as the genuine items mount onto the cross member this will also be the same. Construction wise it's EU approved and compatible with the air bags.

Let's be clear: A-bars are not fitted to new vehicles because they are banned. Car companies spend millions on developing pedestrian friendly front ends and bonnets to pass the necessary legislation. That's why the front of every modern car is plastic, not metal. Unfortunately, there is no law as yet to prevent someone undoing all that good work by fitting one themselves. |
