Screen protector for Meridian 7" sat nav unit

As the title suggests has anyone popped a screen protector on their sat nav unit? Thinking about getting one once I find it in the correct size. I need to measure the length and width just to make sure

Scratch on sat nav screen

Found a very light scratch,about 4cm.long on the sat nav screen.Any ideas on how to remove this?

Personally I think any messing with it will make it worse.
As a suggestion, get an iPad anti reflective screen protector, cut to size and apply. This will hide the scratch and prevent any further damage

A 7" tablet screen protector

I don't need to worry about that anymore, I've went back to the dark ages with my new Disco. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Brasso or toothpaste & elbow grease to polish out scratches in acrylic but I would not do this to the screen as the various anti glair coatings will be removed creating a worse problem.

The protection films when they contact the surface tend to hide small scratches. They are cheap enough to experiment with. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Thanks to everyone for your advice.I will measure my sat nav screen and have a go at fitting a protective screen cover.

Zagg do excellent screen protectors. Not cheap but they will replace them foc if they scratch.

Thought I'd merge the how to on the initial thread I posted a while back!

This morning I decided to fit the iPad mini screen protectors the the 7" Meridian sat nav unit. Obviously it would a bit of trimming down but it was cheaper to use what I rather than searching for the indentical size.

Using the trim removing tool pop of the centre dash speaker panel by working the way around the edges.

Now lift the panel up towards yourself slide it up and lift it straight up to remove.

Remove the two torx screws holding the front facia

Remove the two torx screws which are located right at the top of the panel

I could not remeber from memory if there were any screws beneath the sat nav unit panel that I had finished in grand black lacquer. To be honest I did not want to touch it as its painted but it had to be removed and the trim removing tool really as use useful bits of kit and it will not damage any plastic or painted surfaces.

Once this trim is removed you now have access to the remaining last two screws

Now gently pull the whole facia towards yourself. Now you will have access remove connects from the sat nav unit and heating controls. Take a picture for reference if need be but the plugs are coded and the ones that are not are different sizes therefore it is impossible to connect them back up the incorrect way.

In order to remove the sat nav unit you have to remove the two large silver torx head screws on either side of the unit and two small black torx head screws under the unit.

Sat nav unit is now removed from its housing

Now measure the screen and decide how large you want the screen protector to be. Bearing in mind the the actual dash facia hides a certain amount for the edges. Once you have cut your screen protector down. Clean the screen I used spectacle cleaner which is perfectly fine and using a new spectacle cleaning cloth I removed all traces of fingers prints and dust. Now you can install the screen protector. It is such a neat job you can't even tell its fitted which is what you want. Once you are happy with the quality of your own work you can fit everything back into the car.

Once fitted back in the car I fully tested the screen protector and it works well with the unit and there is no lag etc. I realise this is a common complaint BUT maybe I'm one of the lucky ones as my unit has always been very responsive. Take note if you can fit a screen protector on your iphone/iPad without any bubbles or dust particles then you can do this job yourself otherwise I would not bother to tackle it. Just wish I'd done this earlier.

Listing states 6" screen! You have a 7" screen. If you want a proper job done I'd suggest taking the actual unit out like I have shown as a step by step guide. That way you will never know that there is one fitted MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior
