FL2 Starting Problem

Hi all,

My Dad had a problem with his 07 Freelander II (diesel) today. On trying to start it the engine cranked but did not start. He tried it 5 or 6 times and he could not get it to start, so he rang his AA to get a call out for it to be towed, as he knew it wasn't a battery problem as he had replaced the battery just a month ago.

30 minutes later he decided to try it again, and it started straight away so he cancelled the AA before they came out.

It seems to be working fine again however he's wondering what might have caused it not to start earlier on today?

He's wondering if there might be a problem with a sensor somewhere and if so, would this show up on a garages computer diagnostics?

Has anyone experience anything like this before? He'd like to get to the bottom of it before it happens again.

Checkout the crankshaft position sensor, unplug it, clean the contacts and make sure the cable isn't pulled too tight.
