Another recall

After having the sunroof recal just being done (Sept) I have yet another recall mail ref Electric Booster Heater, funny enough after the sunroof fix and service I had a leak from the heater . There was no quibble and it was immediatly resolved, is this the fix I have just been mailed about I wonder?

On Saturday, I received my booster heater recall letter (dated the 30th Sept.)

It's a pity Land Rover couldn't have listed the number plates for recall work on a central computer that dealers could log in to, as the work could have been done during the service I had on the 1st of Oct.

Still, the letter advises it is a 10 minute job to disconnect the heater but no replacement heaters will be available until early 2009 - I bet that is in the spring when the weather gets warmer and it won't really be needed. FL2 TD4 XS Santorini

From the "Humble Pie" folder.

Rung my dealer this morning to book in for the booster work and they DID do the recall work during the service.

NP why rock the boat when you don't need to. Sometimes being open about everything can pay off but more often than not there are more people that react badly to it than there are that accept it and are glad to have been told. Once you've tasted GREY you'll never go back!

but wouldn't it have been nicer to say

"By the way your going to receive a letter regarding the heater, we know about it and have already acted up on it"

That way you don't need to think that you have to have another trip to the dealer straight after you have been there.

My dealer always says we have done this or that due to a TSB etc Thumbs Up

Its only my opinion though Very Happy Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Np I totally agree.

In my experience the bad dealer/mechanic experiences outweigh the good ones so......... Rolling Eyes

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

I remember many years ago my Father in Law had a Honda Accord and I ran him to the dealer to collect it after a routine service. As he was paying, I got chatting to one of the workshop guys about general things, then he mentioned the camshaft on F-I-L`s Honda. It turned out that they had changed the camshaft on Hondas instruction, but didn`t have any intention to routinely tell the owner. So, my Father in Law thought that Hondas were wonderful - "Nothing ever goes wrong - I just take it in for servicing every now and then".
That was the message that he spread, in ignorance! Good for Hondas image though.
Sometimes it might be better not to know? - unless it`s a safety recall for the heater of course - but then you might sleep better not knowing that your car might burst into flames and take your house with it if it is in your garage!!!!!!! Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!
