19" diamond turned wheels vs painted black vs 20"

Following on from my last post, I decided to plasti-dip my 19" wheels in gloss black to see if I should turn them permanently black.

Here are the pics of:

1) 19" Diamond turned wheels
2) 19" diamond wheels in black
3) 20" evoque wheels from eBay

The pics don't capture the plastic-dipped wheels as well because they aren't full gloss but I think they will look really good when done properly. The 20" wheels are awesome except for two things 1) you can drive on soft sand and 2) there is a little bit too much space in between the spokes.

Let me know your preference..

What is the aspect ratio on the black 19" alloys and on the 20" alloys? IMO them 20" evoque alloys look tiny on the car and very fragile due to the styling of them. As your car is murdered out the black 19" alloys suit it best.

If it was my car I would add the rear styling pack and the side skirts to complete the bodykit. Also I would black out the side repeater and ditch the aftermarket cross bars and replace them with a genuine set or raised roof rails with the cross bars. Finally I would colour code the d pillar.

Isn't she a bit hot being all black in Australia Whistle MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

For my 2 cents worth.

I like the all black 19's in the top two pics
[and agree the Evoque 20's are a bit too spindly - you could always get another more solid set of Evoque black 20's]
I'd certainly keep the all black wheels if you're keeping the FL2 in all black [I would smoke out the side repeaters tho]

But really like the Diamond 19's on the last pics, it does add a bit of class.
However I don't think it suits the all black look.
Though just adding the chrome grill surround and silvered fog light bezels would be all you need [& it matches the silver roof bars].
You could also do just the honeycomb in the side vents in silver ?
[I assume you've still got the rear boot chrome strip?]

Looking vey nice anyway Thumbs Up FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

hey Guys

the aspect for the wheels/tyres are:

20" - 255/45/r20
19" - 235/65/r19

Some of you will realise this means the speedo is actually out for the 19's because I have chosen the extra tread for beach driving, its only minimal and I'm not concerned about any additional strain on the engine as it is so slight. (thought id get that out there before someone mentions it Wink

My other option was do go a bit bigger tyres on the 20's but I think when done properly the 19s will look best. The shop up the road quoted me $1000 to paint them black which is a bit of a rip, might try another place, look at powder coating or sell them and buy a black set.

i have considered smoking the side repeaters but I'm concerned it might age the car? it doesn't look as contrast in real life but i guess the pics make the car seem black vs santorini black so its more pronounced.

D pillar is next (thanks nut)

I haven't considered the side or rear skirts, the front really bothered me so it had to be squared up to look like its RR brothers also i don't want the departure angle compromised like i had to do on the front so it is still semi capable offroad. has anyone murdered out a black one and done all of this stuff?/

lastly, the roof rail might need to go black but i really like the flush look of not having side rails so i won't go the genuine ones.. not even sure why i have them if I'm honest tho cause the surfboard goes in the car with me! 2011 black FL2
