JLR to buy Silverstone?

In today's Financial Times

One of Britain’s most iconic carmakers is examining a bid worth tens of millions of pounds to buy Britain’s best known racing circuit.

Jaguar Land Rover has prepared a bid to buy Silverstone, the home of the British Formula One Grand Prix, according to documents seen by the Financial Times.
The documents show that the car manufacturer asked Cushman & Wakefield, the property consultant, to draw up a valuation for the Northamptonshire track in July. Under the terms being considered, Silverstone would become JLR’s home and would include a “heritage centre” to display the company’s fleet of cars, offices for up to 1,000 staff and a hotel and visitor centre. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Can't wait to see the new Land Rover F1 team. Laughing

I bet they'll put back all the old gravel traps ...
..... and they'll be the only cars able to get out of them. Laughing FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,

Porsche have a huge driver experience centre on site at Silverstone www.porsche.com/silverstone/en/centre/
They even have an off road track (not very demanding). Presumably JLR would be their new landlords. Could be some interesting discussions ahead. Another problem for the VW group? Shocked 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Hi

So what happens to Gaydon? I thought this was JLR's flagship site? Perhaps this is more R&D?

Be very convenient for me - somewhere to spend the weekends! Plenty of scope round the outside of the site for a more interesting off road course with a bit of landscaping particularly if they can come to an arrangement with some of the local landowners. FL No 1 - 2012 (MY2011) XS manual Firenze Red - Gone

Gaydon is purely R&D. If JLR were to buy, I imagine it would be similar to Mercedes at Brookland (but without the supermarket in the middle of the track). No idea if this is true or not... Now:
