The Haldex is the viscous coupling, it connects directly to the rear diff. How do they know both need replacing, what are your symptoms, worn tyres can give similar noise symptoms to a failing diff, could it be wheel bearing noise, etc? Many questions before you commit to spending money! |

Thank you very much for the feedback. I now know. Not sure how they figured that both need replacing. Actually when I asked if this was the Haldex they could not explain. My symptoms were whistling noise which I was told was a wheel bearing. I replaced the bearing but it was only gone for a day or so and came back. Then I was told that the bearing I used was not genuine and is known to be not a perfect fit. I went ahead and replaced it with another bearing still not genuine. Again it was gone and came back in a day or so. I then went ahead and ordered bearings from UK which just arrived but I have not fitted them. These are genuine landrover parts. I must say when on the highway going high speeds I have some whining noise. I have not checked the tires yet they are about 2 to 3 years old. |
