EGR Valve can you hear yours?

Re the title really

Sinse having LR fit a broken EGR valve to the freelander then having to get them fit another one ( Which is ment to work ) All I ever get is this stupid noise. Have looked on the hawkeye and can see that the noise is the EGR valve moving, the noise is to the point that I have to put the radio on above volume 10 to start to drown it out.

Cant seem to hear it when the engine is cold but as soon as it warms up you hear the valve doing its thing, but should I be hearing this from inside the cabin? When out on drives I can even say to people I bet it makes the noise in 3, 2, 1 and bag there it is weeering away ( mainly when pulling up at lights or at a stand still for a few minutes, but on a normal town drive I seem to hear it on and off every drive ) Rolling Eyes

From the hawkeye it shows that when the noise is being made the EGR error is moving about up or down the numbers, I have not had it plugged in while moving but once home have plugged it in and the same noise is heard and it shows up as EGR moving about. No faults show up relating to the EGR, just this annoying noise.

Anything thoughts? Its an XS 57 auto

I can't hear much above the rattling Diesel engine. Can you post a video on YouTube?

Oh and I need to have the radio at about 15 to hear it anyway.

Pardon? What's that you say? Whistle

Have they connected the thing up properly? Could be the pipe connection leaking pressurised air - I'm pretty sure you shouldn't hear an EGR valve operating in normal usage No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Cheers for the reply sorry for my lateness

Ok that's worrying to say the least Shocked its 100% the EGR valve as the hawkeye shows it moving perfectly with the sound that im hearing, its starting to drive me nuts to be honest, ever sinse they have fitted the thing the noise has been apparent. I will try and get a video sorted to hopefully show what im going on about.

If this one is not rite then the main dealer has fitted 2 broken EGR valves to my freelander Crying or Very sad

I think Alex mentioned previously in another thread that the position sensors needed to be programmed to the car (sorry not sure of the correct terms). This tells the ecu where the actuator is and the limits. May be this?

Sorry for the utter naf vid but it was the only few minutes I had spare today, the vid does not show it at its worse by any means but you might be able to hear the noise ( hopefully ) On a hotter engine the noise is more clear and the numbers on the hawkeye move and change more with the noise. Will try and get a vid of it on a normal drive to show what im on about but the noise from the vid happens every time you pull up to lights or traffic and when moving slowly ( pretty much makes the noise on and off all the time, and it always relates to the EGR valve moving from what the hawkeye shows me )

Need sound up a lot as its recorded on a gopro hero3+

See what you think Freelander 57 plate XS Blue Auto

Sorry remembered the wrong post which related to throttle body and not EGR. http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic21127.htm...ottle+body
