I quite often use a radio transmitter of several hundred watts and the antenna is no more than 10 yards away from the car and it hasn't caused any problems.

That sounds like a seriously large transmitter.
In motor sport (rallying) we are only allowed 4 watts ouput in car moblies and 25 watts for the radio controllers base set.
You must be transmitting half way round the globe. Life Honorary Member of Wallasey Motor Club.

Two days ago my car refused to start and came up with HDC failure message. called LR assistance and they arrived within 90 minutes diagnosed and dead cell in the battery and replaced the battery. No further problems. Obviously this must be a common problem if the assistance vehicles carry spare batteries around with them. Still this is the only issue i've had and 90 minutes is a good response time and car back fully functional.

Legally allowed 400 watts on most frequencies. That runs into an antenna with forward gain approaching 12dbw (every 3dbw effectively doubles the radiated power from the antenna in a given direction) so, potential transmit power of 6400 watts. If I could turn my antenna quick enough I would hear my own signal travelling all the way around the globe, not just half of it Thumbs Up ______________________

Flat battery for me twice in Man Apt T1 short stay on top level(3 days & 1 day).

Flat battery once at East Mids (2 days).

Never flat at Stansted, or Manch long stay or T3 short stay, Newcastle or gatwick.

On most recent occasion LR recovery reset software to default and no probs since. My W960 mobile won't pair though now and it was fine before.

Starting problems and fire

Several times last year I had starting problems after my car was parked unused in my garage for a few days.
Battery was flat.
Dealer could nou find anything but thought about some current leakage. An update on the radio did not help.
Last Friday I couldnot start again and my car was towed away.
Now it appears there is a modification from LR UK: the dealer has to disconnect the wire to the pre-heater ( lets the car become warm whilst the liquids are still cold). It is possible that some moist will drop on the connectors and causes problems in the electrical circuit which could end up in a fire! Shocked
LR UK does not have a real solution yet for the bug... Sad

Re: Flat battery (airport related??)

I returned from three weeks away: FL2 in an airport long-term car park and the kindly folks there had jump-started the car for me, saying that there had been a flat battery.

The FL2 is normally garaged and it might not have liked being left outside these autumnal nights because it's been left unused for similar periods of time without any problems. The long-term car park is a 5 minute drive from the airport and there are many houses closer to the airport than the car park I used.

When I return home in a few weeks, I'll respond to the heater recall letter.
