I have always been wary of fire extinguishers not working. Many years ago as PhD research student in chemistry I was in the lab on my own late at night and I had a big fire in a fume cupboard. I ran to get a CO2 fire extinguisher and discovered that it didn't work, after trying a couple of others with the same effect I was panicking and should have just called for help and left the building but in those days you were supposed to sort things out yourself so I wheeled a Nitrogen cylinder over, switched off the fume cupboard fan and dowsed the cupboard with Nitrogen through a rubber hose which did the trick.
The next day the whole dept got a b***ing from the Prof as it seemed that people had got into the habit of putting out small fires with an extinguisher and then putting the extinguisher back on the wall without getting it refilled. I also got a going over for forgetting that by dowsing the area with Nitrogen I could have suffocated! 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I remember when I was at school someone passing an extinguisher knocked it off the wall and it went off, it was dry powder and everyone emerged from the room looking like snowmen, it made a heck of a mess.

I feel for you, a loan freelander 2 we had caught fire for no known reason whilst parked not Long after a short journey, that was a total loss. Ours started with the alarm going off, then smoke from the bonnet near the battery and then flames and lots more flames. Did yours do the same?.

Fire was put down to a defective vehicle, Land Rover tried to put the blame on me and it took over a year to get them to reimburse my house insurance excess for damage to the driveway. Make sure you notify Land Rover, they may wish to take your car in for examination after the insurance have looked at it.

Well after a three week gap and pressing my 110 into daily service......

I traveled into Suffolk today and came home with this 2010 HSE.e

Nice additions over XS, black leather, sunroof and 'dipping' wing mirrors in reverse.

Stornoway Grey according to TOPIX.

Just found I have DAB radio as well Smile What are the advantages of DAB over FM? We have given up on DAB at home as we never get a signal.

yup, they even added a sunroof for good measure!

Lucky for me it burst into flames on another driveway so my neighbours have no idea.

IMO there is no advantage to having DAB in a noisy vehicle. In fact instead of fading out like an FM signal, the DAB radio just makes a strange noise and goes off completely. When I park in my works underground carpark, it's as if I've turned the whole thing off. At least with FM it tries to keep going.
