Xenon...... essential?

I'm looking around to possibly change current 11 plate MY11 to a 63 or 64 plate. Struggling to find many with xenons, are the later halogen with the running lights ant better than the MY11 headlights ? ?

They are worse....by miles....... I'd look at getting one with xenons or having them retrofitted. One single filament HB3 bulb is for dip and full beam Rolling Eyes MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Having always had halogens I didn't find them too bad, but my DS had xenons and what a difference, I made sure my Disco came with xenons. Wouldn't have anything else until LR bring out LED headlights. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Xenons are the best at the moment, but i see the latest BMW 7 series now comes with Laser Headlights, this will be the next big thing, wonder when the FL2 conversion kit comes out? Cool

Laser headlights are a bit of a con to me, the light comes from a phosphor disc struck by laser light, causing it to glow, yes there bright but marketing more than anything ... Oh, and they cost '000's as an option.

Never understood why they removed main beam spots to replace with drls, probably cheapest way to do it. Shame as fitting extra spots is a mission

Has anyone swapped the glimmerers for HIDs?

Doing it properly I mean, by replacing the whole light unit.

There plenty of posts on Evoqueownersclub about changing/upgrading from halogen to xenon so they can't be. I drove a mates Evoque before we bought ours and his one had halogens. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.
