New throttle body. how much?

Judging by the good advice on here I reckon I need a new throttle body. Can anyone tell me how much it's likely to cost? Is it a job that you'd trust your local garage to do, or should I take it land rover to get properly fleeced? I have an after market warrant, not a land rover one. Anybody successfully claimed this item on a warranty? I always assume they'll find a way not to pay and if they do consider it a nice surprise!!

Thanks,
Kev

The part is around £100 give or take a fiver. About an hours labour to fit it. If it's broke, it should be covered by the warranty. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I have a warranty that came with the car, not JLR and have claimed for new transfer box. They tried to wriggle out but I mentioned I was on a forum and it was a common problem, not ware and tare, so they paid up. I presume you are getting the extended shut down?

Thanks guys for the replies. I do get extended run on, but only for a second or two. Biggest issue for me is pulling into traffic quickly. If I try and pull away quickly there's a horrible, lengthy pause before anything happens. Been caught a few times.

Booked into garage on Friday to confirm what the problem is.

Sounds more like the hesitation issue, try searching for that.

Hesitation is on the 2011 early facelift models with the lower tax and modified air intake pipes (ie no "organ pipes" on it). You might get it on a late 60 reg but not on a 10 reg if that's what you have. Incidentally, LR don't know how to fix it Rolling Eyes 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

It's a 60 plate, pre facelift. Took into my local garage today and he read a load of fault codes regarding the throttle body. New one being fitted Monday, I'll report back on whether it fixes some or all of the issues!

New throttle body today. Starts and stops immediately now. Gear changes seem much smoother too. Hasn't fixed the annoying 1-2 second pause when you try and pull away quickly. Oh well, as Meatloaf once said "2 out or 3 ain't bad......"

Fitted price for throttle body just short of £300. A charge for diagnosis, 110 for the parts, 1.5 hrs labour and a nice lot of VAT.

The car does run a bit nicer, but overall I'm struggling to see exactly what the throttle body does, 'cos it drove ok before and it drives ok now!!!
