Headlight Dip / Main Beam Actuators - MY 2013 & On

Anyone had any trouble with the headlight dip / main beam actuators located inside the headlight assembly on the facelift MY 2013 and newer Freelander 2s?
Noticed this morning that I had an offside headlight out, both dip and main beam wouldn’t work. Went to change the bulb at lunchtime today and found that the bulb had shattered completely. Lots of glass fragments in the headlight. Cleaned it out the best I could (on the works car park in the wind) and changed the bulb. Right hand works OK on Dip but not on Main. Nobody about to lend a hand so I couldn’t tell if the Right hand headlight actuator was working (I assume the clunking was the left side). Tonight I’ll try and get a vacuum attachment inside the headlight and clean it out properly in case there are any glass fragments jamming the actuator. Other than that it’s a trip to the dealers (it’s under warranty until May 2016 but I’d like to save a couple of 40 mile round trips, possibly one to confirm the fault & order parts and another to get it fixed.
Anyone else had any problems?
Thanks,

There was a similar thread recently with a broken lamp, not sure if the actuator was involved though?

Thanks for the link. I’d missed that.
Very interesting as I have (Had) Osram Nightbreakers fitted. I’ve changed back to the standard PHILLIPS bulbs now.
Strange as it may seem, when I arrived home tonight (more or less in daylight), I shone the headlights against the garage door and they worked perfectly, dip, main & flash. Just been out to the car and again now it's dark they worked perfectly. Could a small piece of glass or object cause a foul somewhere that has since vibrated free on the way home? Strange, very strange. Fingers crossed. Confused
All the best,

I bought Osram Night Breakers through Amazon. They were NO better as good as original bulbs, neither lasted 9 months. No breakages though.
There was not ONE word of English on the packaging all European instructions and info.

I have had good results with previous FL2 and Merc C220 with Halfords high performance bulbs. They now stock HB3, didnt at the time. All FL2's (3) Gone

The fact there wasnt any English wording on the packing might mean they were just standard bulbs, maybe a counterfeit thing??

Driven to work this morning in the dark on mainly dry country roads (first time it's been dry in ages) and must admit the standard bulbs don’t seem that bad. Gone:
