Hi guys, my 2009 GS auto seems noisy from the rear end on the road, sounds like a wheel bearing, but it has had both rear wheel bearings changed, new recon rear diff, just had rear discs and hand brake shoes due to glazed discs and shoes, i am at a loss as to what it may be, Rear tyres are also new, noise was present befor all this work was done, any ideas,,

What is the noise like? It is not unusual for tyre ware to sound similar to mechanical issues. |

Not had the issue myself with tyre noise sounding like mechanical problems and there has been quite a bit on here about that, may be worth a search. Sounds can be difficult to pinpoint where they are coming from sometimes so it could be your front tyres I suppose. I think there was a suggestion recently that you could try swapping the two fronts with each other, as there could be a different ware pattern this may alter the noise if this is your issue. Keep us updated. |

We had a rumbling noise from the rear which was present on all road surfaces and at all speeds, similar to you it was put on a ramp with chassis ears but was quiet. it was traced the shock absorbers and both were changed, which cured the problem. |

Its definitely from the rear? noises in cars can appear to be far away from where they actually are and travel around the body as it acts as a sound box?

I too had a noise from the rear which turned out to be a failing transfer box, which is nowhere near the rear. I too was convinced the sound was behind me. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

I've always had trouble with a noisy rear end. Best solution I can offer is to light a scented candle in the room if you are expecting guests to visit. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

You can buy a warning sign for that, like the caution wet floor ones, maybe you need one of those too? |
