The headlamps are fitted with HID type lamps, the high beam operates a shutter mechanism within the lamp housing that simply allows all of the light through, in dipped mode the shutter creates the beam profile.

Does not need to have HID lamps, 2013 MY with HB3 single filament bulbs also has shutter for dip.

Thanks for that I was wondering if it was a fault as my previous MY10 did not make such a clatter. totally agree, my MY13 had this setup - and it was very good, now have xenons.... |
