Engine Bay

Engine running, jet wash in right-hand, wife looking out of window thinking I'm an idiot...

Anyone else jet-washed their engine bay?

Rolling with laughter . No, but I keep mine clean Embarassed . I take it you covered all of the electrics with something that was impermeable to a jet wash!? If so, how?

I like a clean car too, but the chap I bought it off must have used the engine bay as a veggie patch, as it was gipping!

Very clean car everywhere else, but the engine bay was filthy.

With regards to the electrics, I took a rather cavalier approach to waterproofing. I just kept the engine running and aimed the nozzle carefully (away from the electrics). All still works fine...

...but will let you know if it's still working next week...

I used tyre black spray and a soft cloth on the under bonnet plastic and rubber. Wheel arch liners too. Looks good, easy to apply and lasted well.

Ive power washed engine bays before, just avoid air box and major electrical items.

we do it all the time on farm vehicles so why not cars?

A big no no is battery terminals. they can catch fire on first start of engine when wet if not in A1 condition, but car batteries are boxed in so should be fine. copper grease terminals before washing seems to be best plan. At work

Heres the Availble car page I still have open on my comp. I picked it up last night, I was supprised it was that clean under there.. although my wife has it today and ive been demoted to the 2004 TD4 for work, with the lanes in the state there were when I left, i would imagine nothing is that clean now :/
