Hi everyone, this is my new Freelander 2, traded my old subaru forester in against it and so far I love it but I have only had it 4 days ha ha. Previous owner put a new clutch and associated bits and flywheel in it, new rear diff all with reciepts so hopefully I won't have any issues with them. I have it booked in for a major service at Rockingham Landrovers and wonder if I should get the cambelt done at the same time as it's done 133k. The only problem I have found is the boot opens when you open the doors with the fob but the high lever brake light seal is worn so the light was loose, after doing some Google searching I think the boot switch may have moisture in it. Here's some pics.

Cheers for the reply, I will get the lot changed if i have it done, they are going to inspect the belt before replacing so I its ok it gives me a bit longer to get the £££ together. |

Tailgate issue is almost certainly water in the switch, they're easily cleaned up or replaced. Also, if your high-level brake light is loose it will probably leak water into the boot when it rains, so look out for that.

Hi and welcome to the forum. The only issue you have now is once you have a landrover its hard to have anything else |

Cheers guys, I will take the switch out tomorrow and dry it out if needed. Hopefully that will sort it, if not I think there only about £30 aren't they. |

The bodywork and wheels are in superb condition but it looks like it's never been polished and waxed, all been autoglymed now though, took me an hour alone to do the tailgate lol. I have ordered some heko wind deflectors and I also want a roof spoiler for it ( hints been made to the Mrs for Christmas) Feel like a kid with a new toy at the minute as I can't get enough driving it. |

I always use Meguiars polish, the reason is whilst Autoglym is excellent stuff and the dealers use it, I find you have to be careful about not getting it on the black plastic or rubber parts as it drys white and looks a mess, with Meguiars you dont have to worry if it gets on the black plastics, it wont dry white or mark it.
