LR2 maintenance cost

For the last 2 years i've taken my LR2 to the dealer for the annual scheduled service. It's about $475 (tax included). This sounds like a lot considering they only do an oil change, cabin filter change, top the fluids and do a 21 point inspection --according to service reps. They don't even rotate my tires.

Am i missing something? Are they checking or changing other items that i am not aware of? $475 seems a bit steep for the above items. I can do all that myself and save $300 or more.

If i go somewhere else for my annual intervals, would i lose my warranty? Any consequences?

Does anyone here have a 2013+ model? If so, how much are your maintenance costs? Where do you get your maintenance taken care of?

Thanks,
Jimmy

Hi Jimmy, I also take my MY13 for the scheduled maintenance every 16K km to the dealer, and end up paying about what you are stating, but in Canadian funds so a bit higher! I am doing this until my warranty ends (one more service visit) at which time I will look into doing the oil change myself (found a great how to on another forum) and will look at any maintenance I can't manage be done at a local indy. There are two in my area that should be able to help and most likely are ALOT cheaper. My only concern is using them before the warranty ends, not sure how LR would view that just in case.

I also struggle with the LR maintenance costs, their tech's charge about $130/hr here and routinely use 3 hours per visit! My wife once gave them the OK to change out the wipers, front and back, during one service visit without me knowing. It ended up costing another $500 to change out the three wipers!! I almost fainted. Big Cry

I am pretty sure I can do an oil change for around $50 and will do so in the future. Thumbs Up

HAHA Laughing

Sorry, got a chuckle out of the $500 wiper change. Sounds painful!

I guess i will have to stomach 2 more annual services before i start doing them on my own.

Thanks for your input. At least i know i'm not the only one paying these ridiculous amounts for an oil change Neutral

IF only $130 an hour ... do it !!!!
Equate that to uk prices £110 + vat @20% = £132 per hour (local dealers )

at current rates $usd = $205.92

cand $cad = $271.92

get it serviced quick before they put the price up...!! Wales

My local LandRover dealer in Saint Brieuc, Brittany, charges between 45 and 65€ per hour.

I use Duckworths Market Rasen. Pay labour only and supply the genuine parts bought through Dan@Duckworths. I also buy the correct oil myself. Before the last service I had also bought some new front wipers which I left on the back seat with the intention of changing myself at home. They did the service and changed the wipers too. Thumbs Up Just one more little reason why I go back to Duckworths. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

$205 per hour is ridiculous. That plus the parts gets pretty expensive.

I noticed some of you have 2008 models and i'm guessing you're out of warranty. Did any of you considered doing the service on your own once the warranty expired?

Hi, yes there are quite a few of us on here that do the servicing ourselves, and other jobs too. All part of the fun if you like getting your hands dirty! Some of us do more than the standard service and more regularly than you would get from a dealer, plus you know that everything has been done how you want it. Landrover provide a standard schedule for servicing and maintenance some of which, some of us don't think is soon enough, e.g., cam belt, all drivetrain fluids, etc. But that is our opinion.
P.s. You will need to check your warranty as I think they are not all the same, I have a warranty and have no issues with doing the work myself.
