Yes Tim, That's it. But I am surprised that you didn't pay as much as others on this forum for this repair. I think because you didn't do it in an official LR garage. So beware because there is also an haldex update software that is related to your problem. This is a common issue with the Freelander II and was fixed after the last VIN I've mentioned in my other post. I spent months doing researches about it before I bought my car and made sure it was outside the concerned VIN series. So now I'm the specialist for haldex/diff issues on freel2.com

Do you know when the software update was released? I did have the car serviced by a main dealer whilst under warranty so, in theory, should have had the software updates done in 2011, 2012 and 2013. |

No Tim, this update must be done in the same time when you change the pinions. Please take 10 minutes to read about it. Search for other posts in which I have discussed the haldex/diifferential issues Freelander 2 TD4 S / Santorini black / Genuine factory GPS with Bluetooth phone connection / Front and Rear parking aids |

Tim To be precise, the update is available for haldex's IV generation (which you have I think). See SSM46057 Freelander 2 TD4 S / Santorini black / Genuine factory GPS with Bluetooth phone connection / Front and Rear parking aids |

So Lucky you ! It's not systematic neither. If 100% of the vin range was affected, there would have been a recall. But when I bought my car I wanted to play on the safe side without taking any risk Freelander 2 TD4 S / Santorini black / Genuine factory GPS with Bluetooth phone connection / Front and Rear parking aids |

Mine's currently in with an Indy dealer for rear humming noise investigation. He told me likely to be the diff and would need replacing as they don't repair - cost £1200 (strangely he said that's for third party part and not an LR part).

Hi I hardly recommend you to take it to a LR official dealer. You'll be safe after cause they will replace by the improved bearings. Also, they will do an update for haldex. Read my other posts.
