Quick timing belt question.

Hello

Quick question for those in the know.

I have been reading a lot of questions about the timing belt/chain, but it seems no one has been given a direct answer.

Does the LR2 / Freelander have a timing belt i.e. that would need changing at some point, or, does it have a timing chain, which will go on and on. Im asking for the 3.2 Petrol engine.

Thanks in advance.

This looks like a great forum, with a lot of replies.

The 3.2 i6 is chain-driven, with a single chain driving both camshafts.

For completeness, the TD4/SD4 has a belt with a recommended replacement at 150k miles.

Mines done 90k miles and I got mine done today. At least I don't have to worry about that going!

150K or 10 years. Many people are changing sooner, but I'm not aware of any problems with the timing belts.

It was £370 including parts labour for cam belt, water pump, idler pulley/tensioner, two anti roll bars, some bushes and vat.
