I've had dropbox for 2 years, work well, stores family photos, and work related backups , wages , farm records accounts etc all vital. about 30gb stored right now mostly photos taking up the volume

now they want paying for the service probably worth it? but £79/year

alternatives

Jump from free trail to free trial with other services? - but I dont want a jumble of backup all over the place.and i probably cant avoid fees for ever

google drive?

hard drive at home but not fire proof, or 100% reliable???

wifi to a hard drive in separate garage? is that possible? suitable?


I currently also back up accounts etc onto a memory stick that lives in my dads house, but this is not live only sporadic, but better than nothing

We use Dropbox , not the free version, it has been and is a fantastic resource, we keep all the service manuals on it, engineers have access to these, customers can download their service docs and manuals etc.
It's been reliable and has the features we need, £79 a year is not bad when you consider what you would need to do it yourself.
So, stay out of the pub for a couple of nights and get yer hand in yer deep Yoksha pocket

I have a USB hard drive mounted in a fire proof cabinet in our garage it stores all our important stuff. Wife won't and doesn't like Microsoft one drive or us to use an internet storage facility as she thinks someone might access personal stuff family photos bank account details.

I use Google Drive - works brilliantly.

Have used Dropbox in the past too - Google Drive is pretty much identical from a performance/functionality point of view.

For my sins, I work in education and so get unlimited storage for free (I have roughly 23Tb stored at the moment!!)

However, for "Joe Public" it looks as though you get 15Gb free, and can upgrade to 100Gb for $1.99 per month ($24 per year)
