Fairy Lights

Had my SE for nearly 2 months and keep getting caught out by not manually switching on the side/dipped lights. My previous GS had auto lights so not a problem - with the new car I turn on ignition and at night the fairy lights at the front come on tricking me into thinking I'm street legal Embarassed Embarassed Why would LR not fit auto lights Confused MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

I find LRs specs strange at times, the Fl2 GS had auto lights (at one point) and the GS Disco didn't, now the SE Disco has them and the SE Fl2 doesn't Rolling Eyes 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Firenze Red

I've found the auto lights sensor is a bit crap anyway - better to rely on the driver rather than a set of algorithms buried in the car's software - on Auto setting on mine it can take quite a while for the software to react to changing light levels just at the time when the lights could do with being on! FL No 1 - 2012 (MY2011) XS manual Firenze Red - Gone

Agree with Bubbles.
Thing is you can become too reliant on the car doing stuff for you, & just assume it will be OK.
I'm used to auto lights, drove dad's CRV in poor weather a few months ago, switch of driver, dashboard is lit up, means lights are on? SD4 HSE Lux Orkney Grey,Full size spare tyre,Ugly kid glass.

With so many cars having DRL now I think auto lights should be law. I keep seeing drivers driving at night thinking they have headlights on...They can see forwards because the DRLs are so bright, but have no tail lights on at all...just dangerous.

A wonderful law from europe that makes lights at the front on all the time but they forgot the back of the car. However they have allowed cars to be manufactured so they drive on sidelights only too. Why has that not been engineered out? So if you turn lights on and move your get headlights not sidelights! grr rant over

Have to be careful when car has been into the garage for a service they turn the auto lights off every time!

My DS had the rear lights on with the DRLs on, apparently it wasn't supposed to be like that. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I drive with my automatic lights on all the time and find them generally OK. They fail to come on in daylight fog though - and sometimes in daytime rain. Obviously as with all driving aids you need to be aware of what's going on but I do think they're a positive rather than a problem. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto
