United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Funny, this is the first year in a long time that I am hoping for snow, but if The Doctor is right I think we may be disappointed!

That's an interesting wheel you have there. Didn't know the LR2 came with steel wheels!
Sorry for the very late reply, but it turned out that the steel 16" wheels were just marginally too small to accommodate the brakes on a 2013 + up LR2. The second I put it in gear to back out of the garage I heard a horrific scraping sound. I ended up just going with 18" aftermarket aluminum wheels with 235/60-18 snow tires. It's my understanding that the 16" steel wheels are fine on pre-2013 models.

Regardless, here's my setup for this winter; bring it on!

Oops, sorry. Should have noticed that in your earlier post. 16" wheels don't fit all models. The standard car used to come with 16" ones, so hopefully you can find someone with an earlier model to buy them off you. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

They would have made a nice set for someone with a pre-'13, but I was fortunate that the retailer took them back & refunded me because they had incorrectly verified that the wheels would fit prior to purchase. Very Happy

Put my winter wheels and tyres on yesterday.Today I saw two gritters,so the bad weather must be on its way, according to the local council.

Got my first ever set put on mine earlier this week and the same on my wife's A4 this morning. 8 Vredestein Wintrac Extreme S on our driveway Smile FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

I fitted my winter tyres on 1st October I use Hankook winter icept evo 2 might try leaving them on all year round as I don't use the freelander as much as I used to.

The tyres rating seams good as wet rating is C road noise B fuel usage C as they seam to out perform continental , Michelin , Bridgestone on the test.

Busy afternoon with the trolley jack, swapping to the winter rubber.

FL2, done.
Seat Leon, done.
Cooper S, done.

If it's a tropical winter, blame me for the bad voodoo Smile
