RR Evoque

Pulled up alongside a 65 plate Evoque yesterday, possibly Dynamic spec looking at the exhaust tips and roof spoiler. New lights and facelift looked pretty good and guessing it had the Ingenium power plant in it as it was off like Censored off a shovel.

Strange thing was that it had twin shark fin aerials on top of the rear spoiler right in the centre.

Anyone got any clues as to what they might be for ??

Twin sharks might be additional aerial for Doctors/Paramedic Officers who use/buy their own vehicles through the scheme?

Not sure if you can spec a twin aerial for any other reason really, I could be very wrong! 2013 FL2 - Black Edition Auto

16MY Evoques I believe have them. Possibly due to it having a wifi option and perhaps incontrol premium where you can lock and unlock the car from your smartphone. I know they are available just not 100% sure what for.

ive just been on the Ewok configurator on the LR website. no pictures that I could see at first glance but I did see the wifi and inter galactic communication options and wondered if they were what the twin fins were for

I don't know about anyone else but I would just settle for a car with a decent diff and wheel bearings before getting into more electronics to go wrong. (and I used to work in IT!) 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I still work in IT/Telecoms. I hate all the flippin tech around at the minute. Its just being developed for the sake of it and because the geek sheep have to have the latest gadgets.

Like you say, I would be happy for traditional mechanical stuff that works

I'm sure they are part of the incontrol premium pack.

I just hope LR forget all this nonsense for the next Defender. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

next defender will no doubt be more electronic than we can imagine.

what use is all this amazing technology in the middle of nowhere when it breaks down and your kitted out expedition Defender wont go anywhere.

That's why LR were always so good for adventurers and the military. They could be fixed anywhere with a basic set of tools.

Not any more and I feel this is where LR has lost its way and been forced to bow down to the masses to keep sales going.

I hate so much of the electrojunk....
my pet hate of the week is the tyre pressure monitoring ballix fitted to my Hondas.
I just do not have the time to sit down and reason with the damn computer to persuade it please to recognise that I have just swapped to winter tyres and that there really is nothing to worry about, please stop flashing blinky warnings at me telling me to read the handbook again and again........ it will be all right, tyres are all nicely pumped up, I have re -calibrated you five times and spoken to you nicely so if you don't bleedin well re-calibrate I am going to...........Grrrrrrrrrrr

I would imagine the option for the long range HF transceiver shark fin aerials would be very expensive.

Alternatively just use a row of these across the rear spoiler and fool everyone into thinking you can communicate with the Mars Rover

"In the unlikely event of a breakdown....." Hmmmm

So apart from telling you where you left the car for those that are forgetful, the app just tells you things that are displayed on the instrument panel when you get in the car. Sounds like a solution looking for a problem....
