I've been indoor bowling (long mat) a few times with some friends and quite enjoyed it.
We are all beginners. No idea all of us.
So I've bought some secondhand bowls.
Anyone on this forum have any sound advice on how I can improve my game? Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Well done Pegleg. I've never tried the long mat version but short-mat bowls is a major performance sport down here in the south-west - most of our towns and villages have a team and there are three sections in the Cornwall League alone - it's very competitive. We had the England team down here a couple of weeks ago.

On how to improve - practice is the only answer, but some individual coaching would also be good. If you haven't already done so, find a local club and join. There will be folk there who can guide you and there may well be access to professional coaches.

A word of warning though - it's addictive! My wife and I are in two clubs - Perranporth and Truro - and play three times a week regularly, sometimes more if there's a match on another evening! Hardly leaves time for golf and scootering!

Thanks, joining the local club will be the next step. I've also an outdoor flat green not far away.
Some 40 years ago I used to play crown which (to me) required a lot more imagination.
This flat green stuff seems to be more about accuracy. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
