I'm trying to replace the original xenon lamp by Philips with the Osram Nightbreaker, but I have a problem to fix the new one to the lamp holder.

I don't think the two are compatible
As far as I know Osram Nightbreakers are Halogen bulbs - you are using Xenon which need a different electrical supply
I suspect that even if you did get the bulb in it would blow straight away - be careful No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

hold the bulb base in both hands with the bulb pointed up. Put a thumb on each side of the gap in the locking ring and push it away from the bulb. Its held in with a series of spring clips.

You will need to replace the old bulb with another D3S fitment bulb. I know that Osram do not do Nightbreakers in D3S. No other bulb will fit or work with the OEM Xenon ballast (controller). The replacement you need is Osram 66340, which is the standard OEM Land Rover D3S bulb. It will be the only one which will perfectly match the bulb in your other headlight. If you are going to replace both bulbs I personally would go for Philips Xtreme Vision D3S, which I have in my car, but at around £180 for the pair they are expensive. They are far superior to the standard Osrams in terms of appearance (pure white light) and more importantly the output on the road. I was also puzzled as to how to remove the bulb from the bulb clip, but if you do it as Colin describes, then you will ha e no bother. Do check original bulb markings. Some MY are d3s some are d1s

Thank you very much for the help! By following the instruction of Colin I was able to replace the lamps
The first time I tried I was worried to damage the ring, because it's quite hard to remove it. I did the job by using a pliers to enlarge the ring and move it out from its location, because the plastic is hard and sharp and can harm the thumbs also with a glove.
The new Osram fits the headlight perfectly (I have a FL2 MY2011 with D1S xenon) and works far better than the original Philips XenStart: the light is whiter and brighter. After near 5 years the Philips' light has become yellow and weak in my opinion.
I payed 75£ for the pair from ebay and I also checked if they are genuine, because I have seen some videos on YouTube about fake bulbs that can damage the control unit. MY11 SD4 S

2 year ago, I got caught out in the Alps, at 5000 ft with fuel that clouded over at 5oC. £300 Euros later, I'm now wiser, and buy fuel guaranteed to -25oC. Eg ELAN !

Last year, I got caught out again ... with difficult starting, but got it going, using multiple warm-ups, and leaving it to the afternoon, when it was a bit warmer, not -13, but -8 oC.

It got me thinking that, maybe my glow plugs were not as good as they should be. So, last week I got the current measured by my local Land Rover dealer ...... 20Amps ! And, it should have been 60-80 amps! .
Conclusion ... 2 to 3 glow plugs not working.

Tomorrow, I am getting 4 new plugs fitted, and will get the current draw measured, as a reference point.

However, the proof of the pudding is; will the car start in the cold weather .... I'll post the results when I'm up in the mountains ....

Just ordered a pair of Philips Xtreme vision bulbs from Powerbulbs, they have a discount running currently and £135 for the pair. Mine are showing weird colours and driving me mad, will try and get some before/after pictures if I can.

I put a pair of XTec H7 Super White Xenon HID Class Bulbs 4200k e-mark in my FL2 a couple of years for the princely sum of £8.49 off fleabay. These are much whiter than the standard ones in the FL2 and I think make a vast improvement.

I know you get what you pay for but the cost of some of these bulbs seem amazing to me.

I tought My lights Are old and poor lights, i just Changed My d1s to new osram d1s, but it didn't Get better. Dont know why My lights Are so poor brightness. Old freelander which i had was on h7 bulbs and they were much better than d1s which i now have

What year and model do you have ?
I presume you are running the HID bulbs in proper projector lights designed for HID bulbs and not using a reflector light conversion. Jules

Looked closer to lights and they Are very scratchy, this might Be reason allso. Maybe have to try sanding and polishing to them
