Reverse Camera Question

Hi guys

I have learnt from this forum that retro-fitting reverse cameras and connecting these to the Nav Sat system via GVIF only works if the OEM screen is on the Sat Nav (Map) view. It will not work if on the Home or Screensaver screens.

Can anyone suggest a way that i can achieve the rear camera engaging when i place my auto box in reverse, irrespective of what screen is on the OEM headunit?

I dont use my Nav system every day, only on longer trips, so dont see the point of this if i cannot get it to work with any screen state.

Hope someone here can offer some advice, even if just info on how i would need to wire this to get it working.

anticipated thanks.

Let me ask this from another angle:

would i be able to use a 2-way video switch to take 2 inputs (camera and GPS) and then wire the output to the OEM screen cable that currently plugs into the under-seat Sat Nav DVD player?

Hi mate. The issue you have is the cable under the seat only feeds the nav image to the screen the main menu/screen saver is provided from elsewhere (not sure if its in the screen itself).
