Thanks Rob. It seemed odd at first posting here. It is very public but that actually seems to help. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

I was suffering stress due to work pressures for some time but didn't know it. It came to a head in 2010 when, after 15 years my employer (a training charity) started treating me very badly and I had a mini-breakdown while away on a weekend break in Jersey at just the thought of returning to work. I jacked the job in on the Monday morning and the bastards had their premises repossessed that afternoon. Done myself out of 15 years redundancy (which I now know was their plan) but I had the last laugh though because I took on premises of my own, employed all my work colleagues and took ALL of their business which they were hoping to keep in different premises. I must admit that before I even started on my own which was a couple of months after I left, the stress was lifted almost the minute I resigned. I went to my doctor who said he could prescribe drugs but that I may be on them for sometime. He recommended long walks, freah air and excercise which was the option I took. |

Thanks everyone. Interesting to hear your stories. I keep writing stuff then deleting it because it just seems so complicated. I hope I manage to get it all out coherently next week.

I've been to the bottom, where I was looking at reasons to live. I cried like a baby at the Dr's when telling him how I felt. I was referred to a specialist and given medication. This helped a great deal. I had tried manning up for years and funnily enough it does not work. I listened to Jeremy Vine on the radio discussing depression. I sat crying in the car, recognising a lot of the symptoms. I still delayed going to the Dr as I thought I would be wasting his time. I think it was another year of suffering.

So, went to the docs this morning. Thankfully she was very open and listened and has diagnosed depression and anxiety. Short term is medication to try and up the mood stability but has suggested that we look into psych services to work alongside the drugs. Long waiting lists though.

Think of it as the start of the pathway to feeling better, in fact by seeking assistance you're a few steps further along it already Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |
