Not new thread i know, but thought i would add a very good LR indi garage in Northants/ Rutland/Leicestershire (Its on the boarder of all three.

This is a family run Indi garage which has been around for a long time, Steve Marlow/ Ray Nix and the rest of the family are great, always up for a chat or a brew if you're passing.

it's right next to Rockingham Castle, which will be known by alot for having LR Experience run by Vince and Edd Cobley, who i'm sure lots have heard of, I'#m friends with Edd and know how much he highly reccomends Rockingham LR.

i have no direct affiliation to Rockingham aprt from them being friends through the many years I've been going there.

I now live in Derby, but still get my spares from there and I'll be getting my FL2 serviced/ repaired there as and when, It's worth the 2 hour round trip in my opinion.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, there is Derbyshire Landover Spares (DLS) in Wirksworth in Derbyshire, who I really dislike using, I have used them before when I first moved up to derbyshire, I think they are over priced on parts, mainly use S*~tpart and have no quality control on that, also reluctant to change when they sell a shoddy part.

Ive ordered parts from there, arrived as requested a few days later and found they have sold the parts on/ not recieved them with no explination, so i dont go out of my way to go there now.

I also had the slave cyl replaced on my FL1 a few years back, they charged (in my opinion) a rediculous amout for it, there were bolts left loose and some missing, I didnt bother going back so i replaced and tightened by myself.

It seems to me like a poorly run, over charging crap place to go. I would avoid, but that ofcourse is my opinion..

for emergencies now, Iuse Paddocks at Matlock who seem fair on price, but have only used a hand full of times for Defender spares. MY2011 Freelander 2 GS Santorini Black

Just a thought - I see people are recommending some LR Approved garages (such as Team Valley - TVLR).These are not the same as most "Independents" as they can access the LR computer and carry out warranty work, updates etc. Worth bearing the distinction in mind, and maybe putting a different colour flag on the map? Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

landerthree, Guy salmon are not an 'indy'. I don't know where you are in Yorkshire but I can recommend Green Oval Garage at Gildersome, right next to junction 27 of the M62. I've used them for years without any probem. Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

I'm in SE London and been an owner for less than 6 months. Found RCV in East Peckham Kent, who gave the car a full service just after I bought it. No complaints, save the fact that they're about 30 miles away - they do have courtesy cars, Astras, but don't do my back any good so I'm pretty reliant on getting a mate to pick me up etc.
Any one use other Indys in this next of the woods?
Can't get the Indy map to open so can't see for myself
