I see people posting with MY13 (for example) presumably describing the model they drive.
How do I know what my MY is (pun intended)?

Yours being an 2014 SE I believe would make it 15MY, I'm sure others will correct if wrong, I'm a bit rusty on Fl2 model changes.


Generally Land Rover change their model years around September. Example I'm about to take delivery of a 15/65 reg Discovery making it a 16MY where as my DS is a 15/15 reg and a 15MY.

It's a bit hard to see from your avatar pic but if it has a blacked out reflector below the indicator in your front light assembly then it's a MY15 specification model. Assuming your light assemblies Havnt been upgraded.

There was me naively thinking the model would be in the VIN number or log book or receipt ........

It is actually in the Vin aswell, I think
It's the letter before the "H" (Halewood) before the 6 digit build number, so I was led to believe by
LR. It should be an "F". MY15

Didn't know that.

Makes sense though - we used to do a similar thing with build number/serial numbers in an old manufacturing job I had. Fits more data into less characters.

Dell do a similar thing on their equipment. Their "Service Tag" is just a base-36 representation of the Express Code. They are actually both the same "number", but one takes up way less space than the other....

It's an F in the VIN so that confirms as MY15.
Just a thought - it may not be hexadecimal - as you say using 0-9 and A-Z could give up to 36 years, although you would need to look at something apart from a FL2 to see what letter signifies a 17 model. Potted LR history since 1990:

Correct I like to think I have an MY15 the black reflector in the headlight works extremely well the the gloss black grill and side vents and door handles on the dynamic

Well the fact is yours is a MY14 but at least it's the last of the Dynamic as they were never available as an MY15.
Yours being white didn't think it would show up as much as other colours. MY15

Yes correct mate! Picked car up on the 1st March 2014 (first day of the 14 Reg plates in UK) which IIRC was a Saturday and on the 3rd the Monday I was at another LR dealer and they called me through to take a look at JLR's latest press release, regarding the run out MY15 models! First thing I noticed was the blacked out headlights reflectors. White reflector doesn't show up as much on white colour as opposed to darker colours.
Just aswell it's not Amber like the US spec models. MY15
