That is because we have 150, 160 and 190 engines, also options of manual or auto on 150 and 160. Not forgetting the i6. Auto is the "no option" option on 190 (and i6?). Therefore there should be 6 different RFL Rates. Mine is, I believe, the highest diesel at £285. Big Cry 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Well in Ireland about 60% of our motor tax used to go to the local council coffers in which county you live in, and that was supposed to be spent on providing the water maintenance and infrastructure required in your area. the rest went on road maintenance.
However now the government wants to screw each householder for a water charge and has spent millions (500+) on having water meters installed to whip us all in line with EU policy to charge for water used.

Of course they are not looking at reducing the car tax by 60% at the same time or the VAT that was increased by 2% to also cover water costs a few decades ago.

So Ireland is about to go all crazy over this issue and it looks like it will bring down the government...

Rant over, we will still get screwed for crazy car tax in Ireland after the 2016 elections no doubt... Big Cry

It would appear that it is based on the CO2 emissions of the vehicle.

Mine puts out (According to The DVLA) 224G/KM.
