Roadpro satellite dome

Hi there

we have just moved from a motorhome to a caravan and have a Roadpro 40cm auto skew satelite dome with decoder we want to sell, does anyone have an idea of how much we should ask for it and the best place to advertise it

thanks

Is this the type that fitted permenatly?

How did you find it? If I had the spare cash i would have been interested but I think it will be worth more than the wife will allow Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

We looked at getting one a few years ago, was around £1100 new, fitted, but couldn't get one anywhere, in the end bought a Papsa Dish, but haven't used that now for over a year, the latest Status Aerial works well for us that we might end up selling the Papsa. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

The problem with these units is that they have limited reception south of the Macon-La Rochelle line, OK for Sky and other pan EU beams but BBC and commercial terrestrial channels transmitted by satellite are on narrow UK beam and need a larger dish, up to 1m on the med coast and more in Spain. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Herat in the uk though and so convenient no tripods pegs meters lining up and when the weathers bad it doesn't move about and it can all be done from the comfort of your lounge so it does have a few advantages

Last time I was away, the tripod and dish could not see a satellite at its normal position, so I had to have it on 30ft of cable away from the caravan to enable it see the satellite

I've been thinking if it's screwed to the caravan roof, do you have this issue and if you do it must be a case of moving pitches Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Unfortunately the caravan we have just bought does not have the roof space as it has a large sun roof a fitted solar panel an omnivent and 2 heki style roof lights so just no space otherwise i get it fitted, we have a tiny decoder which was programmed to read our sky card so we got all our sky channels but you can also attached a sky box, the only time we struggled to get a reception was right under trees, the dish as auto skew which not only rotates but it also tilts to get the strongest possible signal

And heres me thinking if you have a caravan you go on holiday not to watch TV Smile

If you really need it why not just get a media server.... cheaper... smaller and will work in all areas and weather Smile

In France with decent weather we dont even bother setting the TV and satellite up, only cold rainy UK pitches (like Easter weekend tomorrow onwards) need TV for entertainment!
