I believe that the witter detachable bar needs no bumper cut. The LR Brink detachable needs a small cut but it is pretty invisible with the bar fitted and hardly noticeable with the bar off. The Brink has a bit of a bad rep for the tow ball 'clunking' in it's receiver and for that reason, some believe the witter is better as it doesn't develop the 'clunk'. One has said that the Brink looks better fitted than some of the others. Other brands are available at varying prices... all will do the same job and all should be similarly easy to fit.

The Witter from PF Jones is cheaper than the Land Rover branded Brink from a dealer but the Dealer price i suspect includes fitting.. Freelander tow bars are an easy diy job needing little more than a socket set and a torque wrench.

The dedicated electrics to suit your car cost me £104 inc vat from my local dealer (Lancasters) and really is a simple DIY job too with no cable jointing or programming required. Duckworth parts may be able to beat that. At the money is it worth faffing around with cheap bypass electrics or unbranded 'dedicated' stuff?

My LR Brink is now on my latest car having originally been fitted new to my last FL2. I would buy another one quite happily but that is personal experience speaking rather than a recommendation.

You can see two cuts the first cut it the normal car bumper and the second cut is the bodykit. If the towbar was removed you would only notice that the bumper and bodykit has been trimmed if your on your hands and knees looking under the car.

Thanks guys this has been really helpful. I did install a Witter with plug in electrics on an old Focus a few years back and it was very straightforward - sounds like the FL2 would be similarly easy. I want to go for detachable to try and minimise the impact of the towbar when not in use. Any thoughts on the differences between the Flange detachable and the "normal" detachable? From the small photos on PFJones it looks like there's not much difference when the towbar is removed.

The mount for the Witter detachable is the same whether used with flanged or swan-neck hitch. Slightly bigger photo than the pfjones website:

Yes, AD, and their FAQ page returns a load of polish text. Could be wrong but could it be a UK front end of a polish company ?? FL2 2007 57 GS

It explains on website it is a UK (online) seller for a polish factory that makes tow bars.

And it's FAQ page is in Polish and the website design company appears to be Polish too.

That said, there is probably nothing wrong with the tow bars but the electrics on offer are bypass only so that might need to be considered.

All in all, it might be best to go with a known company (PF Joner for inst) rather than an unknown one.

It is a litle more expensive, but it is better safe than sorry.

Now i want to install it.
It doesn't seems to be difficult to mount at home.
But, how do i dismount the rear bumper?
Is there any instructions to dismount it?

There are two bolts that i can't get there.
I can see them if i remove the left rear reflector. But i can't get to them.
