Rust

Was out washing the FL2 today and noticed that I have some rust. I don't know what the part is called, but it is the large metal beam/pipe that can be seen behind the rear passenger wheel.

Not knowing what the pipe is, I don't know if it should/shouldn't be rusting.

The car is a December 2010 facelift. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

You mean the suspension radius arm? just visible in front of the wheel behind the arch

They are only just painted a fairly thin coat of chassis black I think and are in a position highly likely to get stone chipped from stones flung up by the wheel or might have been scraped offroading?, apart from looking maybe a bit unsightly the surface rusting wont affect the structural integrity of the part for years.

Or are you meaning the exhaust pipe??

Thanks. Was wondering if it was the exhaust. Looks about the right size. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

To be fair Iain, I don't know what a suspension arm looks like. I'm new to all this. I do however know that the big spring is the suspension.

Until I pop my head under the car, which is sitting on a muddy drive just now, I can't trace the pipe. But the size does look similar to the exhaust. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

There unfortunately lies the problem, those that know can argue and inflict their superior knowledge on a less than confident service manager and get what they want, those that don't are in the deep mire. If you think you have a problem seek out them that know, better still cultivate friends or acquaintances who do, saves a fortune Laughing my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

suspension arm, surface rust not a problem really just insightly, paint it if you are upset or leave.
some people take wheels off and paint all the struts and rods, I think lifes to short for that.

or blat it with waxoyl but that can look worse than rust.

black bar at 3'0'clock compared to rusty brake disc?

exhaust is more like this

Cheers CG. If it isn't an issue I won't do anything about it. I have enough to do already. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
