Have you tried greasing the ball as it looks very dry? |

Thanks Richp but with the stabaliser I have, it would contaminate the friction pads, It will probably turn out to something I am doing it usaully does.

All tow balls in this country should be the same size - 50 mm - unless they are extremely old.

Thanks to all your replies I will take onboard what you have said and probably get a caravan fitter out to see if he can come up with a possible solution.

That's a very big no for an Alko stabiliser hitch. The ball should be clean and dry, paint and grease free. Greasing the ball would render the stabiliser useless. |

I have now replaced my caravan and the towbar fits ok with no problems so it must have been a problem with both my Alko stabiliser and the one we tried at Stuart Longtons of Chorley. Just got back from Betws Y Coed and towed the new van with no problems apart from the detachable tow bar has now got a looseness not major, but not a solid connection to the vehicle. The indicator is showing connected ok. Freelander 2 TD4 GS 2011 Manual Satorini Black (Current)

It has to be a one in a zillion chance that the two Al-Ko hitches, yours and a randomly selected other, demonstrated the same problem but glad you now have it sorted. |
