France 2012 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Santorini Black
freelander 2 climbing steps/stairs

Hi to all !

I would like to share this video and will love to receive your comments.

As we all know, the freelander 2 has no low range gearbox. Nevertheless, it is a very capable SUV with its terrain response system. To have enough power, the mode used in this movie is " mud & ruts ". Both wheels on the passenger's side are on the steps, whereas both wheels on the driver's side are on a muddy slope . The car is a manual gearbox. You will notice that the Free stalled in the middle of the stairs because I forgot to deactivate the DSC, which limits the engine throttle and power. For information, I have never been off-road and my knowledge remains "theoretical", especially through some " land rover experience" DVD'S.

Regards,

Just looks like an amateurs attempt to me. Rolling Eyes

Absolutely no reason (with a driver who knows what their doing) to get up there, all controlled and in one go .....
....oh, and get back down easily in a controlled manner.

Or us it just me. Confused FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

It is explained in original post that the driver is an amateur and no previous experience of off-roading.
(They Just watched off road vids)

I liked the vid and was convinced he would ground 1/2 way up
I am also impressed with our amazing cars Thumbs Up

Thanks for Sharing Julien

They will go up slopes and steps far steeper than that, it's always daunting in your own car, you feel like you will break it, they are very capable and capable of far more than most of us ever push them to.

Thanks for sharing though and keep it up Thumbs Up

Just shows how capable these cars are, most suv's would struggle with this.

Hi Joe and Thank you for your feedback !

By reading your posts, I presume that your more experienced than me in off-road.

Why do you think that the freelander stalled half way up ? Was the DSC responsable ? Lack of power happens every time when I have to go up on obstacles even minor than this one.

For information, in this video, I measured before going up the departure angle of the slope and its arrival at the top so I don't damage anything underbody.

Your advice is very welcome !

Don't worry ronp.

Perhaps I should have climbed "step by step " instead of trying to do it one way up.

What would you have done if you were at my place ?

Thank you in advance

Hi taztastic !

I totally agree with you but beware of the departure angle of a steep slope and its arrival at the top because you can scratch the underbody of your car. Especially this damn plastic fuel tank which is too low...

I was climbing on an earth slope last day and while arriving at the top I heard a little scratcing noise. Thanks God it was only the heat shield (of the exhaust system) fixed on the metalic frame of the fuel tank.

So no important damage because the surface was soft earth and it touched only the heat shield.

So this fuel tank must be carefully taken into consideration !

Cheers ! Freelander 2 TD4 S / Santorini black / Genuine factory GPS with Bluetooth phone connection / Front and Rear parking aids

Not at all Iain. Don't be sarcastic. You didn't read carefully my posts before.....
All what I am asking for is an advice or comment about the relation between stalling / lack of power / and switching off DSC while going on obstacles like that (or a steep slope ).

Thanks Freelander 2 TD4 S / Santorini black / Genuine factory GPS with Bluetooth phone connection / Front and Rear parking aids
