Having recently bought a Metropolis with no spare wheel and not being a fan of these instant mobility/puncture repair/get you home kits I would like to have a spare wheel and jack just for peace of mind.

I've just missed an unused wheel with tyre and jack/kit on our favourite auction site and there's no more available anywhere that I can see - does anyone know if LandRover still have any for sale as it was an option with a new car. A friend told me that it was only a £185 option as well with a new car. I bet they'll be more than that though if buying as an accessory - when I asked the salesman he didn't know/didn't really want to know - I was only buying a used car not a new one.

I know that several tyre repair specialists also hate working on a tyre that's been filled with that gunge and say it's hard to clean out and a couple of local ones even said that they will just say that the tyre can't be repaired rather than clean it all out!

Anyway, if anyone knows if they are available and a price it will give me something to work on..........

I had thought of a steel wheel just as a get me home, the one auctioned was a genuine Freelander 2 steel 17 inch with 235 tyre and jack/wheelbrace all as new in the LR polystyrene doobry - it went for under £150 which would have suited me fine. Obviously the seller was someone who bought the option but didn't sell it with his car.

A matching alloy would be £300 ish then the tyre at £150 and I would still have to find a designated jack set somewhere, and at a guess these will be on the shelf next to the hens teeth!

I might be near the dealers tomorrow so might pop in and make enquiries at the parts counter - the guys there know a lot more about this sort of thing than the salesmen!

I got a new jack kit from Duckworth's for about £50. A new matching alloy (diamond cut 19") from an ebay seller for £250 and a barely used matching conti tyre from 'Mav' on here for £50-£60.

About £350 all in and I have retained the big Styrene insert and tyre repair kit for when I eventually trade the car in.

Will be listing a 17inch Freelander2 alloy wheel with a good tyre shortly! 1998 300TDi Auto Disco, never to be forgotten.

Sold my original temp spare wheel and tyre for £60 and bought an 18in matching alloy with half worn Goodyear AW for £90 - bingo. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Prices have gone up now, back in 2009 I bought a new 18" HSE wheel and Tyre for £35, at the time with the Freelander being relatively new they were not a sought after item. I also bought in early 2010, four new Continentals on 19" Rims like what was fitted on the Metropolis, for £550 as they were fitted on a limited edition model Sport LE. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

A friend of mine has a new steel spare wheel and tyre for £90 if of any interest.
