I have noticed this, mine seems to be fine then feels like the power steering switches off slightly then on again I mainly notice it when swinging into Car parking space at speed, so i putting it down to speed sensitive steering |

Doesn't do it on mine, steering is light all the time. I sometimes wish it would stiffen up when at motorway speed, but I guess we can't have everything ______________________

funny you mention it, mine started to do this whilst menouvering the horsebox back in last night. That said, the merc does it too, nearly hit something in the station car park last week when I suddenly lost assistance as I swung round the entrance. I get the impression that the pumps can't cope with lots of use at low revs for very long. Once the pressure drops it stuggles to bring it back up again when its at 800rpm or so. Wait a couple of seconds or rev it and it should come back. 07 Freelander 2 TD4SE Tambora Flame, side steps, privacy glass, mud flaps, boot liner and a tow bar. Ok it's the Wifes but she lets me drive it occasionally - if I've been good! |

UPDATE! I took my rover in for it's schedule maintenance and complained about the heavy steering again. They replaced the steering pump under warranty and now all is well. Hopefully the fix will last! |
