Recently got a rough quote of $3000 for a stainless steel bar. The cost included certification as meeting required standards.

I understand that is why bars require certification. Have to ensure air bags aren 't impeded. |

Even in the centre of Sydney, i'd see at least 20 cars a day with bars like that. I highly doubt they are legal in Blighty though..

Those bars as shown aren't winch compatible which means they are probably lighter grade material. A winch adds a hell of a lot of weight to the nose of the car, have you ever lifted one with wire cable, they weigh a lot. Even the big cars usually upgrade the springs and shocks if they put a bar and winch on the front. I'm not interested in the extra fuel you use to carry them around either. I've hit my fair share of roos and it hasn't convinced me I need one on the front. People put one on and then think they are indestructible. After dark in the bush you just have to drive slower or not at all. Kangaroos are the maddest bunch of flip heads you'll find anywhere. |
